ePassi Työmatka automates the entire process of managing commuting benefits. There are no hidden fees or loss involved, as the employer only pays for the benefit based on the actual reload costs of transit cards.

The non-taxable nature of the benefit provides significant savings to both the employer and employee. The benefit can be tailored personally for the employee as a fringe benefit or included in the pay.

The payment method is based on a telephone number, and it can be used to pay for local transit cards, train and bus passes, or season tickets in all Finnish R-kioski and Stockmann stores and HSL customer service points (Itis, Pasila, and Railway Square).

The implementation does not involve logistics, waiting periods, or expenses. The usage can be tracked in the ePassi online service that updates statistics and reports in real time. In addition, the system provides convenient employee-specific usage reports for compliance with annual tax reporting requirements.

Commuting benefit in 2019

  • The commuting benefit is non-taxable up to €300, and the part that exceeds this limit is taxable income until €750.
  • The part that exceeds €750 is non-taxable up to €3,400.
  • The benefit can be offered for the employee as a fringe benefit or included in the pay.
  • The ePassi service provides convenient employee-specific usage reports for compliance with annual tax reporting requirements.
