Verify Your Identity to Use MyMoney and/or Finnair Avios

Using MyMoney and/or Finnair Avios in Epassi is possible after verifying your identity and filling in some additional information. This verification can be done in Epassi app or in our online service and it only needs to be done once.

Verify and fill in your details

Identity verification is done in Epassi app or in our online service. Epassi app guides users to verify themselves if needed. In our online service, the verification is found from the "Transfer money" button in the MyMoney section.

First, users authenticate by using their Mobile ID or bank credentials so that we can ensure that they really are who they are telling. Second, the users fill in all requested information. After this, users can add MyMoney and use their Finnair Avios again.

Users do not have to look for the verification in any way since Epassi will guide them to it, if needed.

Let's Make Epassi More Secure and Reliable together.

Epassi is a payment service provider whose actions are guided by the same laws and regulations that guide for example banks and other financial institutions. EU anti-money laundering directive requires that Epassi needs to have sufficient information about the quality and quantity of the actions of their customers, their financial position and respective service usage.

By verifying your identity for Epassi, you're helping us make Epassi even more secure and reliable than before for all its users. We store the verification information of our customers according to EU general data protection statement (GDPR) and all other laws related to personal data.

What does knowing our customers mean?

The goal of knowing our customers is to learn to know them and to prevent criminal activity, such as money laundering and funding terrorism. To know our customers, we need to ask certain questions from our customers without any exceptions. We do not ask for your information because we would suspect you of something. We just wanto to make Epassi safer for all of its users.

What information will I be asked?

Your username is your mobile phone number without any hyphens or spaces (e.g. 0401234567). Once you have received your new password, enter your username in the ePassport online service. A password link will be sent to you by email and SMS. If the password link does not open directly, copy the link (including the last == characters) and paste it into a new tab in your browser. Enter your new password and press "Save".

You can order a new password here.
Which service does Epassi use to verify my identity?

We use Telia's strong authentication. In Telia's service, you will verify your identity with your bank credentials or Mobile ID. This way, we can be sure about your identity.

What information about me will Telia transfer to Epassi?

Telia transfers your following identity information to Epassi: 1. Name, 2. Date of birth, 3. Finnish social security number. We will keep your data safe and protected.

What if I don't answer your questions?

If you don't answer our questions, we are forced to restrict your options for using Epassi's services. After 31st August 2021, you cannot use your Finnair Plus points or add more MyMoney to Epassi.

Is Epassi allowed to ask for my information?

Epassi is not only allowed, but obligated by law to ask for these details. The money-laundering directive, which requires us to know our customers, overrules all similar laws and regulations. For example, rules stated in EU general data protection regulation (GDPR) will only be applied when the money-laundering law does not dictate otherwise.

But Epassi isn't a bank!

Exactly, we're not. Epassi is a payment service for tax-exempted employee benefits. But, Epassi Clearing Oy, offering payment transfer services, is a payment institution overseen by the Financial Supervisory Advisory. The EU money laundering regulation gives institutions like Epassi exactly the same rules as it does for banks. The money laundering law aims to prevent using banks and other financial institutions to e.g. launder money gained from criminal acts or to fund terrorism.

Do I have to verify myself if I want to use only employee benefits given by my employer?

No, you don't. The identity verification only concerns those who want to use MyMoney service and Finnair Plus points in Epassi.

Who can see my answers?

Only certain Epassi employees can see your answers and handle your personal data. The information you provide to Epassi is treated in accordance with bank secrecy and the provisions of the Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Bank secrecy means that we have a duty of confidentiality.

There's a mistake in my information, how can I fix it?

How do I know that any information I give will not fall into the wrong hands?

Epassi has very strict standards and expectations for storing our customer data securely. All information we collect is strongly encrypted and the encryption is overseen. The information security of our service is also regularly audited.

Why do I have to answer your questions?

According to anti-money laundering regulations, Epassi must know its customers. We may not enter into agreements or execute individual payment transactions with customers unless we know them well enough. We have no doubt about the honesty of you or any of our other customers. We do not suspect you in any other way, but we trust that you will use Epassi in accordance with all applicable rules. All of our customers need to answer questions so we can prevent criminal activity and make Epassi even safer.

What does PEP mean?

PEP is an acronym that comes from the English words “Person in a Politically Exposed Position". PEP therefore means a politically influential person. You are politically influential if you are acting now or have held a significant position or positions in the last 12 months in a state, state-owned enterprise or international organization. Due to the position and influence of a PEP, PEP is considered to pose a risk to corruption, for example. This also applies to PEP's immediate family members and close associates.

Is Epassi the only one who asks information about knowing their customers?

No. Anti-money laundering regulations require all payment service providers, banks and financial institutions to collect this information. For example, your own bank has asked you exactly the same things you have to answer in Epassi.

I'm a new customer, do I have to answer your questions?

Yes. According to the law, we have to ask the information regarding knowing our customers from all of our customers, both old and new ones.
